Gorilla Trekking Experience
4 nights/5 daysThere are only about seven hundred mountain gorillas left living in the Virunga mountains on the border to Rwanda, Uganda and Congo. Parc des Vulcans is part of the most important conservation area for the mountain gorilla. This is where Dian Fossey carried out her research creating the foundation for gorilla tourism.
Gorilla Trekking Experience - 4 nights/5 days
- Day 1: Flight from Windhoek via Johannesburg to Kigali, capital of Rwanda. Transfer to Hotel in Kigali. Overnight Kigali Hotel.
- Day 2: 3,5 hrs drive to the Parc des Vulcans close to Kiningi at the border of Rwanda, Uganda and Congo. Afternoon at leisure at Virunga Lodge(8500ft). Overnight Virunga Lodge.
- Day 3: Early morning departure to the park headquarters and briefing for the gorilla visit. Start of first gorilla trek which can last up to 6 hrs. Overnight Virunga Lodge.
- Day 4: Start of second gorilla trek. After trek depart for Kigali and a late afternoon visit of the Genocide Momorial in Kigali. Transfer to Hotel in Kigali. Overnight Kigali Hotel.
- Day 5: Transfer to Kigali airport for flight back to Windhoek via Johannesburg.
